Perth company ClearVue, in partnership with California’s D2 Solar, has been developing a solar power producing glass that has enormous potential in the construction industry and beyond.
Recently they announced the glass has the capacity to produce even more power.
“Our technology presents a paradigm shift in the way glass will be used in building construction, automobiles, agriculture and specialty products. Glass will no longer be just a component of construction but also a renewable energy resource.”Victor Rosenberg, Executive Chairman
The solar glass can be used to power large commercial buildings’ processes such as light dimmers, automatic blinds etc with no cabling required. The glass also lets less noise in than regular panes and insulates better as well.
In the future, this glass technology could also be applied to homes and cars. There’s also the possibility to become opaque and remove the need for blinds altogether.
